I know I know, it seems a little early in the year to be talking about winter, but here at All In One Season it’s all systems go for our Christmas preparations.
At the moment I’m in planning stages for my fabulous Winter House – deciding on the themes, designs and Christmas flowers that will take over my home for a few weeks!
For those of you who have never been or don’t know what it’s about, this blog will give you a brief overview of what you can expect…
- Cost: This is a FREE event but places are limited
- Refreshments: Snack, minced pies and mulled wine
Ever since 2009 I have been holding an annual Winter House when I dress my home for Christmas and open it over three days for people to browse and buy. We sell lots of things from imported Dutch homewares to Christmas flowers to festive everlasting floral creations that have been made in my workshop. We also like to offer variety and support our community so you will always find a handful of local artisans selling their wares.
I remember feeling so nervous that first year – I had no idea if anyone would turn up but I needn’t have worried because it was a roaring success with over 200 visitors passing through my home. Six years later, through word of mouth alone, I welcome over 800 visitors from all corners of the UK.
When you come to my Winter House you can expect a fun, welcoming and festive atmosphere that’s like a continental Christmas market – just not so far away! You’ll be greeted like royalty with a red carpet reception, although you’ll need to wrap up warm as often there are queues down the street… But this will give you the chance to admire our outside decorations and fires whilst you look forward to warming your hands and filling your tummies with mulled wine and minced pies!
The whole of the downstairs of my home is dressed to impress – you’ll come through the shop and into our magical twinkling courtyard. You’ll be able to browse our row of market cupboards and admire our central courtyard table that will be beautifully styled – full of gorgeous Christmas flowers designs.
You’ll then have the chance to explore the rest of the house and fill your baskets before finally emerging into a large wooden structure we had built especially for this event, which houses more products and our tills.
To cope with demand we have a whole team helping us and last year we invested in some walkie talkies which make managing the event so much easier. Usually we have five people on the tills, two people wrapping and packing, six people placed throughout the house to answer any of your questions and a few people helping in the kitchen and clearing up.
This is a truly unique event that will get your Christmas season off to a great start and will hopefully tick off a few gifts from your xmas list.
